Frequently Askd Questions

FreqUently Asked Questions
Below are some of the questions we receive regarding your therapeutic needs. Please contact me if you need any clarification and I am happy to help!
1. Do you offer a free consultation before scheduling the first session?

Yes! I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation to help you determine if we are a good fit. During this consultation, we’ll briefly discuss your goals, concerns, and any questions you might have about the therapy process. It’s a great opportunity for you to get to know me and feel confident in your decision before committing to your first full session.

2. What can I expect during my first therapy session?

In your first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to understand your concerns, goals, and any challenges you're currently facing. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the therapy process. The goal is to establish a trusting, safe space where we can begin working together toward your healing.

3. How long is each session, and what is the cost?

Each individual session lasts 50 minutes. My fee for a 50-minute session is $160. Payment is due at the time of service, and I accept all major credit cards, as well as most HSA and FSA cards. If you have concerns about fees, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots, and I encourage you to reach out to discuss your options.

4. Do you accept insurance?

Currently, I do not directly accept insurance. However, I can provide you with a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to see if they offer out-of-network coverage for therapy services.

5. How often will I need to come to therapy?

The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. For most clients, weekly sessions are common, especially at the beginning of therapy, but some may benefit from bi-weekly or monthly appointments. We’ll discuss the best schedule for you based on your personal progress and the nature of the issues you’re addressing.

6. What types of therapy do you offer?

I use a variety of therapeutic techniques tailored to your needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed approaches, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma healing. We’ll work together to find the best approach to support your growth and healing.

7. Is everything I share in therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. What you share during our sessions is kept private, with some exceptions required by law (e.g., if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others). I will explain the confidentiality guidelines in detail during our first session so you feel comfortable and informed.

8. What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, I request at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows me to offer the time slot to someone else. Cancellations within 24 hours may incur a cancellation fee of the full session cost.

9. How long will I need therapy?

The length of therapy varies based on individual needs and goals. Some people may benefit from short-term therapy focused on specific issues, while others may need longer-term support. We’ll regularly evaluate your progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.

10. Can therapy help with specific issues like anxiety, depression, or trauma?

Absolutely. Therapy is a powerful tool for addressing a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, and self-esteem issues. Together, we will work to understand the root causes of your challenges and develop strategies to help you heal and thrive.

11. Do you see children or adolescents?

I work with individuals aged 13 and above, including teenagers and adults. My therapeutic approach is well-suited for adolescents navigating complex emotions, relationship challenges, and mental health concerns, but I do not work with children under the age of 13. If you’re looking for therapy for a younger child, I’d be happy to provide referrals to trusted specialists who work with younger children.

Getting started is easy! Simply reach out to me via the contact form, phone or email, and we can schedule your first appointment or complimentary consultation. I’ll answer any questions you have and help you take the first step toward your healing journey. I look forward to working with you!
